Battery Testing

At Power Proving Solutions we offer our clients a range of battery monitoring and test equipment so you can analyse, manage and test your battery equipment at any time.

Your battery can be a valuable part of your business and unfortunately unforseen wear and tear can eventually mean power failure and potential damage or even suspension of your business. With a competent monitoring and test system you can dramatically improve battery reliability and reduce the risk of loss of business and therefore money. This system can also save money on costly preventative maintenance and replacement or repair.

We are authorised distributors for Polytronic Engineering who manufacture, distribute and sell a range of Battery Monitors for UPS, Telecom and Commercial Battery Systems. Our monitoring systems can analyse the performance of your battery system over time providing you with valuable information about your battery health.

Power Proving Services can offer a variety of battery monitoring solutions from basic counters through to complicated online battery monitors. The level of technology and sophistication of our equipment can vary depending on your requirements. Our systems vary from a simple and basic monitor that records your power flow to systems that can set off automatic alarms and call your mobile phone or pager with a voice message.

BTM4000 | view pdf

The BTM4000 System is designed for large stationary applications. It requires a PC on site loaded with the BTM software, Concentrators and RS232 Converters. Concentrators will monitor 1 to 14V cells irrespective of battery type or manufacturer and can independently measure intercell resistance.

For large amounts of batteries multiple Concentrators are connected with fiber optic cable. This allows the system to monitor up to 16,000 cells from a single computer. The modular design results in fast scanning of even the largest batteries.

CommonSense | view pdf

CommonSense is quite simply, a single conductor monitoring wire. One common sensing wire is connected to all the batteries being monitored. This innovation cuts hours of installation time and improves access to the cell for maintenance purposes. There are no bulky wire harnesses to hook up. It can be used in conjunction with any of our BTM systems.

Factstar | view pdf

The Factstar is a powerful battery cycle counter. The device uses Polytronics revolutionary float current monitoring technique to determine battery status. The counter records discharge / charge frequency and duration, and will alarm the user of open or shorted strings, high float current, and pending thermal runaway conditions. All of which are common causes of battery failure.

BTM2000P | view pdf

The BTM2000P portable battery tester is one of the smallest most cost effective battery testers on the market. The device records voltages, dynamic cell resistance, strap resistance, calculated specific gravity and a battery index for up to 500 cells or ten sites. Individual cells can be tested in less then 5 seconds.

The data can be downloaded to a computer an analyzed using the BTM Portable software. The software is Excel based and can be used to track the battery history. The device comes with either Kelvin probes or clips and additional sets can be purchased separately.

BTM1200L | view pdf

The BTM1200L is one of the most powerful portable load banks on the market. It even meets standard airline baggage restrictions. The 1200L can discharge 48V system at 400 Amps and 24V systems at 200 Amps.

The load is transistor controlled and the unit can be operated with or without computer control. A built in BTM monitor logs battery data. Additional monitors may be purchased and used in conjunction with the load bank to acquire a more detailed picture of the battery discharge.

BTM1200LM | view pdf

The BTM1200LM is the possibly the smallest load bank on the market. Despite it's small size the unit is powerful enough to handle a 100 amp or 6kW discharge. A built in BTM monitor logs battery data. Additional monitors may be purchased and used in conjunction with the load bank to acquire a more detailed picture of the battery discharge. Multiple units may be used in conjunction to discharge larger batteries.

BTM Global System | view pdf

BTM-GLOBAL System is a battery monitoring system, which aims to provide battery health related data not only locally (in the battery or control room), but also globally to specified locations. Like a central monitoring station, using the Internet for connectivity. The system is also capable of utilizing varous communication links such as E-mail, Voice, Pager messages, for announcing critical conditions in the battery room.

BTM-Info

The BTM-Info is a device small enough to fit in your hand, yet powerful enough to perform a full analysis and store data for 10 full discharge/charge profiles for up to five battery strings.

Loaded with 512 kB of memory (standard, expandable up to 4 MB), this device can store a years worth of information. It measures the batteries' vital parameters, such as voltage, current, (optionally float-current) and ambient/pilot temperature. The system also determines the state and conition of the battery, charge rate and predeicted capacity, among many others. This system can can warn the user when there are outstanding conditions detected for the battery, or individual jars. Warnings can be enunciated locally and remopely (over PSTN line) as alpha-numeric messages. Built-in backup-power protects battery data against accidental AC-losses.
