SMS Alarms and Notifications

A range of ancillary devices including soft starters, engine controllers and PLC with usable output signalling can be fed into a modem with suitable inputs. This modem can be programmed to send an SMS with a specific or detailed message in response to an input, notifying an individual and/or group via their mobile phones. With the right equipment, the modem may also transmit pictures from a site several hundreds of kilometres away!

Currently the technology can support GSM networks, with newer modems capable of supporting both GSM and 3G networks. Anybody with a GSM and/or 3G capable mobile phone will be able to receive the alerts once their mobile number has been programmed into the modem.

A 3G network is recommended for most remote sites. However coverage and transmission speeds will vary depending on the network carrier in the area. Typically, an SMS can be received in a matter of seconds after an event has occurred on site.
